Stockport is a large town in Greater Manchester, England, historically part of Cheshire, and the birthplace of Most Haunted presenter Yvette Fielding and cameraman Stuart Torevell.

Staircase House

This 15th-century building in Stockport's Market Place, noted for its rare Jacobean cage-newel staircase, is associated with reports of sudden chills, disembodied footsteps, and a ghostly maid believed to have fallen fatally from the upper floors, alongside a second reported presence nicknamed the "Merchant's Coin" spirit, said to rattle spectral wealth before ever appearing in full.

Bramall Hall

A well-preserved example of Tudor architecture, associated with reports of a vengeful baron pacing its gallery, a sorrowful bride reported weeping in the chapel, and goblets said to rattle in its long-abandoned banqueting hall.

Astley Street

An 1889 report published in the Stockport Advertiser and Guardian describes footsteps echoing through empty rooms and unseen hands rattling doors on Astley Street, one of the town's earliest documented ghost reports — though most of the original street's buildings have since been demolished.

Weir Mill

Built in 1790 by John Collier as the industrial revolution reached Stockport, this former mill is associated with reports of the ghosts of children.

Notable people

Television presenter Yvette Fielding and cameraman Stuart Torevell, her cousin, were both born in Stockport.
