Gary JJ Spate is a British filmmaker, writer and paranormal investigator. He is best known as the co-founder of the Society of Paranormal Studies (SPS), alongside Sadie Ingoldby-Spate, and as the founder of The EERIE Files, an online publication and archive dedicated to paranormal investigations, folklore, unexplained phenomena and related research.
Biography
Spate has worked in filmmaking, writing and media production for many years, with a particular interest in the documentation of paranormal claims, eyewitness reports and regional folklore. His work combines historical research with field investigation and documentary-style storytelling.
Paranormal investigations
In 2004, Spate co-founded the Society of Paranormal Studies with Sadie Ingoldby-Spate. Through the organisation, he has participated in investigations at reportedly haunted locations across Kent and elsewhere in the United Kingdom, documenting alleged paranormal activity while encouraging the collection of witness testimony and historical evidence.

In 2026, Spate founded The EERIE Files, an online publication covering paranormal news, investigations, historical mysteries and unexplained phenomena. Alongside the publication, he established The Vault, a structured encyclopaedic archive designed to catalogue paranormal cases, locations, researchers, books, organisations and related subjects.
