Andrew Lincoln (born 14 September 1973) is a British actor, best known internationally for playing Rick Grimes in the AMC series The Walking Dead (2010–18, 2022), and on The Vault for his earlier lead role as sceptical academic Robert Bridge in the ITV supernatural drama Afterlife (2005–06).[1]
Afterlife
Lincoln starred opposite Lesley Sharp in Afterlife, playing a committed sceptic drawn into the orbit of a genuine claimed medium. To prepare for the role, Lincoln consulted parapsychologist Ciarán O'Keeffe about the everyday working life of a real paranormal investigator.[2] The role came in the period between Lincoln's earlier work on Teachers and This Life and his later, much larger international profile on The Walking Dead.[3]
The Walking Dead
Lincoln gained widespread international recognition for playing Rick Grimes, the lead character of The Walking Dead, from 2010 to 2018, briefly reprising the role in the 2022 series finale and in the 2024 spin-off The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. He won the Saturn Award for Best Actor on Television in 2015 and 2017 for the role.[1]
