David Wells (born 8 June 1960) is a Scottish medium and astrologer, best known as the main resident medium on Most Haunted following Derek Acorah's departure from the show in 2005.
Early life
Wells was born in the mining village of Kelloholm, Scotland. Before working as a medium, he served in the Royal Navy. He has said he discovered his abilities after suffering from pneumonia, and went on to study astrology and the Qabalah, later graduating from the Arthur Findlay College, a centre for the study of Spiritualism and psychic development.
Career
Astrology
Alongside his work as a medium, Wells built a career as a professional astrologer, serving as astrologer for Metro and later as the main astrologer for the Daily Mirror, as well as for NOW, the Scottish Daily Record, and Spirit and Destiny magazine.
Most Haunted
Wells first appeared on Most Haunted as a guest medium in 2004, during an episode filmed at the Greengate Brewery alongside then-resident medium Derek Acorah and parapsychologist Matthew Smith. Following Acorah's departure from the show in 2005, Wells took over as the programme's principal medium, a role he held until 2007. Compared with Acorah, Wells was generally understood to work in a more clairvoyant style, and made occasional use of tarot cards and scrying mirrors during investigations, alongside a comparatively lower media profile.
Other work
Wells has also appeared on Jane Goldman Investigates and the live interactive series Psychic Interactive, and in 2006 published David Wells' Complete Guide to Developing Your Psychic Skills with Hay House. In more recent years he has focused on private consultations, past-life regression work, and mentoring, drawing on his background in Qabalah, tarot, and astrology.
