The Society of Paranormal Studies (SPS) is a Kent-based paranormal investigations team founded in 2007 by Gary JJ Spate and Sadie Ingoldby-Spate. SPS was founded following the closure of Spirit Searchers, a UK paranormal investigations team active from 2004 to 2007, of which Spate and Ingoldby-Spate had both been co-founding members. SPS conducts on-location paranormal investigations, with its case findings feeding into The EERIE Files, the wider global paranormal community and archive.
Relationship to The EERIE Files
SPS operates as a narrower, regionally-focused investigation team, feeding its case material into The EERIE Files' broader coverage of hauntings, UFOs, psychic experiences, cryptids, and parapsychology. The SPS Knowledge Base — SPS's own documentation of its investigations — is being absorbed into The EERIE Files as part of its archive, The Vault.
Investigations
SPS has conducted investigations at a number of locations, including an early case at The Corner Pin, Donington le Heath, carried out roughly twenty years ago. Prior to SPS's founding, Spate's earlier team, Spirit Searchers, conducted a 2005 investigation at the home of Alex Birch — see Spirit Searchers for details.
