The EERIE Files is a global paranormal community and archive founded by Gary JJ Spate in 2026, covering hauntings, UFO sightings, psychic and tarot experiences, cryptids, and parapsychology. The name is an acronym for Encounters, Enigmas, Rumours, Ideas & Experiences — deliberately broader than "paranormal" in the strict sense, intended to capture the general territory of reported phenomena that don't fit neatly elsewhere, rather than any one specific tradition.
Founding
Spate, also a co-founder of the Society of Paranormal Studies (SPS) alongside Sadie Ingoldby-Spate, established The EERIE Files as a broader successor project — expanding SPS's Kent-based investigative work into a global community and archive, with SPS itself continuing on as a narrower, regionally-focused team feeding its casework into the wider EERIE Files structure.
Structure
The EERIE Files operates as the umbrella brand under which narrower investigation groups, including SPS, feed their casework into a shared, wider archive. The SPS Knowledge Base, SPS's own record of its investigations, is being absorbed into The EERIE Files' archive as part of this structure.
The Vault
The Vault is The EERIE Files' MediaWiki-based knowledge archive, organising the project's accumulated case files, phenomenon pages, biographies, and media coverage into the category structure documented across the wiki, rooted at Category:The Vault.
