Paranormal investigations
In 2004, Spate and Sadie Ingoldby-Spate co-founded the Spirit Searchers Paranormal Research Society in Grimsby, Lincolnshire.
The organisation conducted paranormal investigations at reportedly haunted locations across England between 2004 and 2007, documenting witness testimony, historical research and reported paranormal activity.
In 2007, Spirit Searchers evolved into the Society of Paranormal Studies (SPS), expanding its focus towards broader paranormal research, investigation and education.
Through SPS, Spate has continued investigating reports involving hauntings, apparitions, cryptids, UFO sightings, psychic phenomena and folklore.
The EERIE Files
In 2026, Spate founded The EERIE Files, an online publication and community focused on paranormal investigations, unexplained phenomena, folklore and historical mysteries.
As part of The EERIE Files, he created The Vault, an encyclopaedic archive documenting cases, locations, people, research, books and media connected to unexplained subjects.
