Template:InfoboxMovie

Renders the right-hand infobox card on a page about a film — as distinct from a TV series ({{InfoboxShow}}) or book ({{InfoboxBook}}). Formerly named Template:FilmInfobox — that name now redirects here. Please use {{InfoboxMovie}} going forward. Note: requires the ParserFunctions extension for the conditionals, same as the other infoboxes. Formatting note: the entire template body is written as one unbroken line, with no line breaks between rows. Splitting rows across multiple lines causes MediaWiki to wrap them in stray <p> tags, breaking the layout; leaving line breaks between rows (even with each row correctly on one line) causes blank fields to leave visible gaps. Keep any future edits to this template on one continuous line. (This template's previous version had the second issue — rows were individually well-formed but separated by blank lines.) Usage:

Parameters

name — required
image — optional. Filename of an uploaded image (without File:)
caption — optional. Caption shown below the image. If the image is AI-generated, the caption must say so explicitly per the Copyrights policy
director — recommended
writer — optional. Screenwriter(s), if distinct from director
based_on — optional. The novel, short story, or other prior work the film adapts, if any
starring — optional. Principal cast
studio — recommended
distributor — optional. If different from the producing studio
release_date — recommended
runtime — optional
budget — optional
box_office — optional
genre — recommended
status — optional. e.g. Standalone, Franchise ongoing
