Template:VaultConceptBrief

Overview panel for pages describing a genre, term, methodology, or category of phenomena — as opposed to a specific case, person, organisation, or location.

This template is designed for:

Folklore genres and narrative types (e.g. urban legends, cryptids as a category)
Research methodologies and terminology (e.g. ostension, legend tripping)
Evidentiary or investigative frameworks

Unlike {{VaultEvidence}}, this does not weigh evidence for a specific claim. Unlike {{VaultProfileBrief}}, it does not describe a person or organisation's relevance. It orients a reader to what the term or genre is and how The Vault uses it.

Formatting note: write the entire template body on one continuous line, with no line breaks between rows — consistent with {{VaultProfileBrief}} and {{VaultLocationBrief}}. Splitting rows across lines causes stray <p> tags; blank fields left on their own lines leave visible gaps.

Parameters

field

The academic or research discipline the concept belongs to (e.g. Folklore studies, Parapsychology, Ufology).

origin

Where and by whom the term or concept was defined or popularized, if known.

scope

How the concept relates to other Vault entries — e.g. whether it's a parent category for specific documented cases, a methodology applied across multiple entries, etc.

summary

A neutral, one-to-two sentence definition. Should describe what the concept is and how it's studied, without taking a position on whether any specific instance of it is true.
