Amherst is a town in Erie County, New York, near Buffalo, and headquarters of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry (CSI), where Paul Kurtz — the organisation's founder — died in 2012.
The Red Coach Inn
This historic inn is said to be haunted, particularly in its Victoria Suite, the site of a 1927 murder in which a man bludgeoned his new bride to death. Guests have reported sudden temperature drops and creaking noises, and the inn has been featured on Celebrity Ghost Stories.
The Rapids Theater
Built in 1921, the theatre is said to be haunted by the ghost of an actress who died by suicide there, with reported phenomena including apparitions on stage, a woman's voice, whistling, the clicking of high heels, and doors opening and closing unaided.
Cold Springs Cemetery
Incorporated in 1840, the cemetery is associated with the ghost of a girl reportedly murdered while hitchhiking nearby.

Also known as Saint John's Cemetery, this small hillside burial ground dating to around the turn of the 20th century is associated with reported apparitions and disembodied voices seemingly coming from the surrounding forest.
