New page

'''The Vault''' is the working archive of [https://eeriefiles.com The EERIE Files] — encounters, enigmas, rumours, ideas and experiences that sit just outside the edges of the everyday. It isn't a list of ghost stories. Every page is sourced and cited, cross-checked where possible, and built to hold up to someone actually questioning it.

== What's in The Vault ==
The archive covers real range: investigators and mediums, from Lorraine and Ed Warren to sceptics like Joe Nickell; cryptids from Loch Ness to the Everglades; the history of parapsychology as a discipline, including the real research institutions, experiments, and controversies; and the television, film and books that have shaped how the public thinks about all of this — alongside a look at where those depictions and the underlying real cases diverge.

== How an entry gets built ==
Every case, person, or organisation is built from multiple independent sources, not one convenient summary. Wikipedia is often a fine starting point, but wherever possible we go back to what it's actually citing — the original news report, the academic paper, the archived investigation write-up — rather than taking a secondhand summary as the final word.

When sources disagree, which happens more often than you'd think, we say so rather than quietly picking whichever version sounds better. If a detail is genuinely disputed between otherwise reliable sources, the page tells you that.

== Believers and sceptics, both properly represented ==
Every case gets both sides argued as strongly as the evidence allows. That means genuine engagement with what sceptics have found when they've tested something, and genuine respect for what investigators and witnesses have actually reported. Where the honest answer is "we don't know," the page says that.

== Images ==
Every image has to earn its place. Personal photographs need genuine permission, not just "it was on the internet somewhere." Book covers or promotional artwork are only used where the page actually discusses that specific item. Where an image is AI-generated — which happens for cryptids and phenomena nobody's ever actually photographed — the caption says so, plainly, every time.

== It's never really finished ==
Pages get revisited. New sources turn up, old assumptions get double-checked, and sometimes something written a while back needs correcting. If you spot something on The Vault that looks off, or have a source we haven't found yet, please tell us.
