High Wycombe is a town in Buckinghamshire, England, with a long-documented collection of local hauntings — enough to have its own dedicated book, Haunted High Wycombe by psychical researcher Eddie Brazil, published by The History Press.

The Golden Ball

A pub in the west of the town associated with 18th-century parliamentarian Sir Francis Dashwood, known for hosting wild parties and later founding the Hellfire Club — the same figure and tradition tied to the wider Buckinghamshire hauntings at West Wycombe and the Hellfire Caves.

Cock Lane

Cock Lane has multiple separate reported hauntings, including two distinct ghosts said to have been seen along the lane in 1980 and 1994.

Investigation activity

Wycombe Paranormal, founded by Ashley Darkwood, runs ghost tours and paranormal investigations across High Wycombe and nearby Buckinghamshire towns including Amersham and Beaconsfield, drawing on original research into local hauntings. Their Haunted Amersham tour has featured as the subject of an episode of the documentary series World's Most Unexplained.

Notable people

Parapsychologist Ciarán O'Keeffe attended John Hampden Grammar School in High Wycombe and is currently based at Buckinghamshire New University, also located in the town.
