PAGES FILED2
Ghosts and Hauntings is the core category for filed reports involving spirits, apparitions, and locations with a recurring haunting reputation — the largest and oldest category on this wiki, and the one most individual case files (villages, buildings, single sites) will sit under directly.
Where a haunting report has a cryptid, folkloric, or aerial element running through it, cross-reference the relevant category rather than duplicating the page — see Cryptids and Folklore and UFOs and Sightings for where those lines are drawn.
Ghosts Hauntings Category
What belongs here
- Individual case files for a haunted site, building, or village (using {{CaseInfobox}})
- Recurring apparition types tied to a specific location (grey ladies, phantom monks, headless figures, and so on)
- County or regional hub pages, where hauntings form part or all of the page's content (cross-referenced under Hub Pages as well)
What doesn't belong here
- Reports where the phenomenon is a creature rather than a spirit or apparition (filed under Cryptids and Folklore)
- Aerial sightings with no ghost or entity component (filed under UFOs and Sightings)
- Folklore or legends with no haunting attached (filed under Cryptics and Folklore)
Filing conventions
- Distinguish between a named, recurring apparition (with its own consistent description across multiple witnesses) and a one-off or vaguely described sighting
- Note the earliest traceable written source for a haunting where possible, rather than treating "it's always been said" as sufficient — Pluckley's page is the model for this
- Where a site has more than one distinct haunting attached to it, use subsections rather than splitting into multiple pages, unless one entry grows large enough to warrant its own file
